PesticideHRMS (LC or GC)
Organophosphate Pesticides
Also known as: OPs · Chlorpyrifos · Malathion · Diazinon
Overview
A broad class of acetylcholinesterase-inhibiting pesticides. Chronic low-level exposure, detectable in PBMCs, is associated with neurological and immune effects.
Primary Sources
Agricultural produce residues, residential pest control, contaminated water.
Health Effects
Neurotoxicity, cholinergic syndrome, endocrine disruption, immune dysregulation, developmental neurotoxicity.
Detection Method
This toxin is detected and quantified using HRMS (LC or GC) analysis of isolated PBMCs. The intracellular accumulation of this compound in lymphocytes and monocytes provides a more accurate reflection of chronic systemic burden than conventional serum or urine testing.
