PesticideHRMS (LC or GC)
Glyphosate
Also known as: Roundup · N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine
Overview
The world's most widely used herbicide. Glyphosate and its primary metabolite AMPA can be detected in PBMCs, providing evidence of systemic absorption beyond gut exposure.
Primary Sources
Agricultural herbicide use on GMO crops, residential weed control, food residues.
Health Effects
Gut microbiome disruption, potential carcinogenicity (IARC Group 2A), endocrine disruption, immune modulation.
Detection Method
This toxin is detected and quantified using HRMS (LC or GC) analysis of isolated PBMCs. The intracellular accumulation of this compound in lymphocytes and monocytes provides a more accurate reflection of chronic systemic burden than conventional serum or urine testing.
